Lately I've felt like a frayed nerve.
Everything is making me jumpy and irritable and anxious and annoyed.
I went in for an ADHD assessment and the results came back that, because of the anxiety disorder I've had for the past 30 years, it's difficult to confirm if I actually have ADHD.
Of course, I already have a diagnosis from when I was a kid, but apparently that doesn't count once you're old.
It doesn't really matter though, does it? The only thing a confirmed diagnosis will do for me is get me access to medication, and I don't want to be medicated.
Still felt invalidating though.
My daughter had a boyfriend. It was sweet and cute and then it went a little sour (like high school things do) and he broke up with her. Then he panicked and tried to get back with her. She stood her ground (so proud!) and in response he showed up at our house pounding on the door and ringing the doorbell over and over when she was home by herself. (He didn't realize we have a camera doorbell, what a dummy.) Terrified her and she hid in our closet until he left.
Nice to know that boys are still growing up with unchecked crazypants behavior around relationships. Reminds me of my own teen years.
I told his parents and I'm sure it's not going well for him, but ugh. Really hoped I could have my kid avoid that for a least a little while longer.
In a very weird, fucked up way, I got pulled in as a witness to an internal affairs investigation at work.
The subject is someone I work closely with and their mistake is really just being an airhead who refuses to acknowledge that where we work is terrifying in a number of ways.
But in the midst of my interview (which was awful and I would clearly die of terror if I ever actually committed a crime) they turned the questions around on me to see if I had also done wrong.
I have not done wrong. But I did panic and blabber a mile a minute and forget half of what I was talking about (because who the fuck likes to be interrogated by veteran internal affairs special agents who act like they already know you're a giant piece of shit and are just waiting for you to agree with them) and now I've spent the last several weeks sick to my stomach knowing I had to put a kind (but really fucking stupid) coworker on blast and also wonder if I'm going to suddenly get fired because I am also secretly a fuckup but I just forgot.
Also. I got fat. It's a real fucking bummer.
